AI art generator technology have changed how individuals and organizations use various art forms for their needs. Whether you are a content creator, an advertiser at a startup, or simply an AI enthusiast, art generators must have piqued your curiosity lately.

What is an AI art generator?

AI uses deep learning, machine learning, and deep neural networks to create content. AI art generators use large amounts of data to produce customized results based on your requirements. Simply download an app that offers generative design AI, feeds specific prompts and the software will produce results accordingly.

For example, we gave the following prompt to Open AI’s DALL.E2:

Create a portrait of a black cat with Van Gogh’s starry night in the background.

Here’s the result:

While our prompt was quite simple, AI art generators are capable of generating intrinsic and detailed art according to the prompt you provide.

Here’s another rather detailed prompt we gave to DALL.E2:

Create an oil painting of a robot sitting on moon waving his hands.

It is quite intriguing to see how precise the AI art generators are in their results!

This is why when Jason Allen’s AI-generated work, “Théâtre D’opéra Spatial won first place at the Colorado State Fair’s annual art competition, artists weren’t happy.

There’s a hot debate about AI replacing art and ethical concerns around using AI to produce art. People are also wondering why they should purchase art when AI can generate it for them.

Amid these concerns are opportunists who are utilizing these resources to produce creative and unique content.

The emergence of generative AI

One thing is for sure, AI is here to stay whether people like it or not. Online AI face generators, voice cloning software, and deep fakes are already around.

Some people are embracing technology while the skeptics are staying away from it. In a matter of time, AI is set to become a household thing.

However, that doesn’t mean it won’t leave a lasting effect on artists. Individuals and organizations may use AI to generate art for their personal needs, marketing, or social media content. This leaves artists with less work.

Many major companies are already utilizing AI for their organization’s art-related needs. The Economist’s July cover broke new ground in journalism as it featured an AI-generated image.

Many artists dread AI’s effects on their profession, while others are excited about the opportunities it will generate for them as artists.

Even with AI, organizations will still need digital artists for their artwork, however, the added ease and flexibility of AI will make the work faster and more efficient for both the artists and the organizations.

While AI software may be quick, it cannot replace humans. Human beings have a penchant for creating unique work which is driven by emotions and carries a story behind it.

Salvador Dali’s paintings often depict the relativity of space and time in The Persistence of Memory and The Melting Watch.

Leonardo Da Vinci’s work embodied the spirit of scientific inquiry that was centuries ahead of its time. It took Da Vinci 16 years to complete Mona Lisa. His work involves the use of many painting and brushstroke techniques, including the concept of optics.

AI can reproduce work already created by artists, it can also produce new and unique work but the emotional aspect of AI doesn’t exist at this time. This makes human artists stand out from AI. Hence, the demand for artists will always remain.

Spielberg’s AI film

Directed by Steven Spielberg, Artificial Intelligence (AI) film is set in the 22nd century when the damage from global warming is adverse and Mecha humanoid robots are commonplace.

One such robot called David is manufactured at Henry Swinton’s house. David is programmed to experience love. An accident involving Henry’s son leads to David’s downfall as he is kicked out of the house in an emotional scene.

The AI film depicts a complex story of deep emotions and feelings between humans and robots. AI can be programmed to experience emotions, however, the film raises an important question: how do humans respond to the emotions of a machine?

Use of AI art images

In today’s digital world, the need for content is more demanding than ever. AI text-to-image creation is not just limited to specific areas of generative art but is also widely applicable in almost any field in the world.

  • Graphics and animation – companies often hire graphic designers and animators to create content for video games, digital media, and films. AI art is seeing its application and adoption in the graphics and animation field.
  • Fashion and design – AI is slowly making its place in the fashion world. AI images can be used to generate clothing designs, templates, and patterns.

CALA  – a fashion platform for designers is the first service to implement OpenAI’s DALL-E API.

The platform is seeing AI as the next wave of DIY design where designers can type in prompts and choose their own designs.

  • Marketing campaigns – marketing plays a huge role in the promotion of a brand’s image, services, and products. AI art can play a vital role in creating effective and unique campaigns of the future.
