Getting started on a new audio or video project can be quite exciting– but also daunting! As a creator, you may typically have a topic in mind for your next podcast or video, however, the most important part is the meat of your content – i.e. script creation. But how to write a voiceover script for your project?

Writing scripts for AI voice generators may seem complex – but, script writing for AI is not really different from regular script writing. The only difference is that traditional script writing requires a human to read the scripts, but, in AI script writing, an AI character is the voice behind a story. Users feed the text to an AI generator and it converts that text into speech.

In this article, we will cover steps on how to write a voiceover script for AI voice generators.

AI voiceover scripts are easy to write and can be a fun process. Before writing a script, keep your target audience in mind. Your audience can be kids, k-pop lovers, harry potter fans, or aliens on Mars – make sure your content speaks to them.

Here are steps on how to write voiceover scripts.

  1. Create an outline

An outline lists all the elements of your podcast or video. Creating an outline acts as a yardstick for the script creation process and the finished script itself. Don’t worry about perfecting your outline and focus more on jotting down everything that you can think of.

Including as many details as possible is important because as you create your script draft, you may cut out many details in the process.

  1. Write for listeners, not readers

The purpose of writing generally is to communicate with the readers. However, for voice-overs, the focus is on listening, therefore, you have to write for the listeners, not the readers.

Avoid using transition words such as moreover, in addition, first, second, etc. Also, avoid flowery jargon or adverbs – it complicates things unnecessarily. Keep your script as straightforward as possible – your listeners will thank you for it.

  1. Keep sentences short

Short sentences break information into smaller pieces, making it easier for listeners to digest the information. Loaded sentences can confuse and distract the listeners, making it hard for them to follow the audio.

Also, longer sentences make up clunky narrations that are unappealing to the listeners. This can affect your podcast following, and drop your numbers.

  1. Stick to one point of view

A grammatical way to describe your point of view is through first, second, and third-person narratives. First-person, for example, refers to using terms such as I, we, and us. The second person is the use of you, your. Using he, she, it, they, them, etc. is considered a third-person narrative.

Whichever point of view you use, make sure to stick to it. Switching to a different point of view in the middle of the story can be confusing for the readers.

  1. Introduce pauses

An important factor for creating effective voiceovers is to add silence to your scripts. Creating silent breaks between sentences gives listeners the time to absorb the existing information.

Silence is also a great tool to engage viewers. It keeps the readers on their toes – keeping them eager for what’s next. Ensure the pauses are appropriate. Incorrectly placed pauses can come across audio issues and can prompt your listeners to check if the audio is still playing or if they are experiencing a slow internet connection.

  1. Edit and polish

After you have created an initial draft, spend some time editing it. At this point, you want to eliminate any extra words, fix typos, and correct grammatical issues.

Another important factor to keep in mind at this stage is to polish your final script in a way that requires minimal instructions when you feed it to the AI voice simulator. A polished script saves you time and helps you achieve the end result faster.

What is a practice voice-over script?

As a beginner creator, you may not be too familiar with creating voice scripts using AI voice generators and may need some assistance. Practice voice over scripts are scripts that creators can use as a blueprint for their content. Some AI voice generators also offer sample voice-over scripts for creators to help them get started.

For example, you are a YouTuber who wants to create AI voice-over content on the topic of climate change. In an AI voice generator, look for any practice voice-over script that fits your topic. Use the script as a reference to create your own unique script.

What is a demo script for voice over

Similar to practice voice scripts, a demo script for voice-over allows creators to use test scripts for various AI characters. For example, if you want to use a female voice-over AI character for your podcast, you can test out various female AI voices to see which one works best for your script.

In other words, a demo voice-over script helps you practice and test your script before actually writing it or feeding it to the AI voiceover narrator.
