How to Delete a TikTok Video

Since COVID, many people have been active on social media. One of the popular social media platforms during COVID lockdown was TikTok. The vast majority of TikTok content is based on music and dancing, which made it easier for younger people to film themselves and share on their network. But now that restrictions have been lifted, how do you delete a TikTok video?

After a few days or months of making videos and sharing them with your network, you might want to delete some videos to clean up your feed. Deleting a TikTok video is not hard at all. What might be harder is mustering up the courage to delete your TikTok videos! 

So, how do you delete a TikTok video?

Before you begin, open the app and fill in the TikTok login. 

1. Go to your profile page 
2. Tap the video that you would like to delete 
3. Click on the three dots in the bottom right corner of your screen
4. Select Delete from the menu
5. Confirm Delete from the pop-up menu 

You cannot bring back deleted TikTok videos. Give yourself some time to decide whether you really want to delete or if you would like to think about it again. If you are unsure whether you want to delete your TikTok video forever, changing the privacy setting could be an option. 

Change Privacy Setting 

Instead of deleting your TikTok video, you can save them to a private folder in the TikTok app. This way, no one other than yourself will be able to view the video.

1. Open the app and fill in your TikTok login
2. Tap the video that you would like to hide 
3. Click on the three dots then select Privacy settings
4. Click on Who can watch this video then select Only me

With this option, you can save your TikTok video to a private folder that you could view only. If you change your mind later on, you could revert the privacy setting by following the same steps. Only this time, you could select Everyone instead of Only me in step 5.

Deleting TikTok Account 

If you are completely certain that you do not want to be on TikTok, then deleting your account might be faster than deleting every single TikTok video you uploaded.

1. Open the app and fill in your TikTok login 
2. Open Profile information 
3. Tap Manage Account
4. Select Phone Number and fill in your number to complete the verification process
5. Select Delete Account at the bottom of your profile information
6. Enter OTP and hit Continue

Once you delete your account, you cannot revive your deleted TikToks, likes, comments etc. So, if there are videos that you would like to keep, ensure to have them downloaded before deleting your account. 

Same with deleting and hiding your TikTok videos, you can also hide your profile so that people will not be able to find you. If you set your privacy setting as invisible, you can pause your account. Even after a while, when you log back in, you will have your videos, likes, in-app purchases in the way you left it before.
